I think that, at the very end of Majora's Mask, they should've shown the following instead of the tree with carvings on it:
Link arrives in a clearing, barren but for a small pool of water. As Link dismounts from Epona, he sees a faint blue glow refleted in the water. He races to the water's edge and looks at the surface, trying to determine the source of the glowing reflection. Then he hears, "Hey!" and looks up.
Navi floats gently down to Link as the mystrious forest music playing in the background reaches its 'happy' part. The camera then focuses on Link, who, as that little rendition of Saria's Song plays, smiles, overjoyed, a single sparkling tear falling from his eye and falling gently into the pool.
And that's our cue to start weeping ourselves at just how touching the moment is. Fanboys, I believe I have just made your day. Hold your applause.
